Mr. Abojedi, Ph.D., RP, CCC. has an in-depth knowledge of child and family dynamics. He completed the APT and CACPT-certified training in play therapy at the Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute in Canada. As a Canadian Certified Counselor and play-based psychotherapy practitioner in Canada, he is doing extensive emotional processing work with children exposed to long and extensive trauma, unstable living conditions, violence, and bullying.
During my 18 years of progressive experience in psychotherapy and mental health, I developed a competent and culture-sensitive perception of psychological intervention. Working with displaced refugees allows me to use diverse CBT and CPT intervention strategies, such as re-framing, psychoeducational, solution-focused, cognitive modelling and restructuring, emotional processing, and stress inoculation. In addition, I used emotional regulation strategies to assist refugees with traumatic backgrounds in dealing with anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms. Through my work, I have been able to help refugees develop healthier coping strategies, build resilience, and gain the confidence to thrive in their communities.
Further, Mr. Abojedi is a community-based program evaluator for children and families and an assessment tool developer. He developed a computerized profiling system for MMPI-2 and BASC2 in 2012. Mr. Abojedi was selected as a reviewer for the second edition of the book on the Dimensional Play Therapy Model, among other international play therapy practitioners. His accomplishments demonstrate his aptitude in psychological research, program evaluation, and technology development, which can be seen through his current research topics.
In the last 7 years, he has conducted specialized play therapy training for 500+ psychologists and counsellors in several countries, including Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Bahrain, and Jordan. Also, Mr. Abojedi works as a reviewer and editorial board member for the Journal of Educational and Developmental Psychology in Canada. Mr. Abojedi is also an academic who teaches and supervises master’s and Ph.D. students at numerous universities in Canada and abroad.
